Karon Phunaka Resort ★★★★

The pool is great. The staff is helpful. The rooms are spacious and well designed.

The property is built on a hill so it’s tough to move around and the walk is very long and steep.

The location to Karon city centre was about 10-15 min by taxi. It’s 1.5 hours from the airport with traffic and 20-25 min from Patong beach. The hotel was clean, staff were super lovely. Loved the buggy’s that pick you up and drop you off to your room/hotel lobby. Pool was amazing, staff at pool bar was attentive and always smiling. During busy periods they needed to put 2 people in the pool bar because the 1 bar attendant was running around making drinks/ordering food/ running down to hotel lobby to assist guest requests and they did an amazing job but needed help.

The breakfast could have been a lot better. There was only 1 milk option I had to purchase another milk alternative from 7-eleven to have cereal. The hot options were all Thai or just very limited and didn’t change daily. Overall I think the breakfast for the price you pay did not match the class of the hotel. Definitely needed to be better. The service at the hotel restaurant was a little bit underwhelming. First of all it was empty we were the only table. So trying to find a staff member at the start to sit down and order was difficult. Once we located a staff member, we quickly realised they were the only ones in the restaurant running food/drinks. At no fault of the staff member they were trying their best but they could have put another staff member on to help considering they had 4 staff all sitting at reception. The food wasn’t what I expected, again I didn’t think it matched the vibe/style that the hotel seemed to be going for. The menu made the food seem more elegant and then once received it did not match what I thought it would be, definitely did not meet my expectations.

The property was absolutely spotless. The pool was beautiful, my room was fantastic.

Loved how much in nature it was. Being on a hillside, you see amazing sunrise & sunsets from your balcony. Pool is incredible. Easy access to town.

Being charged because my regular make up didn’t come out of a towel… never had issue before & for quality of towel, charge felt uncomfortable & unnecessary. The steepness of the layout was great for views but deffo a work out to get to higher rooms unless you wait for a buggy cart to drive you. WiFi wasn’t great strength.

Looks like the hotel's best days are past, but it is still looking good due to its location. Infinity view pool, sea view room, buggy to the top level rooms, transfer to the beach, good staff reminds of past luxury.

Low wifi connection at the top level rooms, just for texting, not more. Buggy won't drive to the top if it's a rainy day, I would recommend asking for a room near the pool, not at the very top.

Great location, right next to the Muy Tai stadium (worth a visit), quiet but not far from the beach. Upgraded rooms are spacious.

Maintenance could be a little better. In my shower, there were screws installed where the tap handles had fallen off. Not a big deal, but not ideal.

The staff was really friendly and the room confortable with an amazing view! The resort is near the best market of Karon and easy to get to downtown and beach

The location is a little bit uphill so maybe not easyJet to access for older or disabled people but they have avshuttle bus who operates till 5 pm. The location Gibraltar a beautiful view especially from the swimming with a nice operating happy hour. The staff is very helpfull and friendly. Breakfast we didnt had but I think it is a little bit small. Further the hotels nerds here and there a little renovation but in generaal it is really a nice place to stay

Breakfast good. Location okay. Atmosphere good. Quiet and relaxing.

Got the keys upon arrival morning 11am. Was told to check-in 2pm. Went out and came back at 2pm - room wasn't finished. Room ready 3pm after I asked them to make up the bed.

Beautiful and attentive staff. Clean room. Loved the cocktails in the pool

Mattress and pillow were very hard. Some maintenance around the property is needed.

We check-in hotel midnight because we make a reservation Airport transfer with the hotel together and they don't come to pick up us..we wait a half an hour at the airport They forget us, and then we get a taxi finally we made hotel we go to checking no smile, not happy people not say either welcome. that was so sad they show us a room view was amazing and then we take a shower and water are non stop keep running we call the reception to help us 1:30 am people come.to fix water and none stop already 2:00 am They can't fix we need sleepy and people trying to fix Damn water doesn't think we are tired or not I get very angry..I ask them can you guys move us a different room and you can fix until morning, I don't care I need a sleepy finally they move us to a different room. Omg bed was like a rock not comfy, not soft at all pillow are so high we wake up everyday back pain and neck pain, glad message was cheaper we went the everyday message get a pain relief hotel was far away from everything you need to walk 10.15 min, hotel Worker not a smiling person not say hi either and they don't speak any English very poor And there is no help at all I ask them. pillow 2 days past no pillow, finally I get a pillow and omg it was nasty yellow stain no cover look dirty of course I don't sleepy and also they complain about we make a towel dirty they want a charge but they don't charge..because I was seating balcony and the chair broke I fell in empty Jacuzzi my leg and feet swelling because of that they don't charge the towel so silly but ok I don't say anything everything was a nightmare it was a joke I can't imagine this hotel is 4.5 start breakfast was not amazing ok Not to bad not to good.

1. Most service staff were friendly 2. Room was spacious and good view 3. Very clean 4. 20mins walk to Karon Beach 5. 20mins bike ride to Patong 6. Due to low season, the quietness in the resort was calming with nice pool dips.

1. Restaurant was pricey, and food was average. 2. Breakfast was basic with some options 3. No/less buggy service internally for customers. Only for check in and out with bags 4. Front desk need to be trained better in English 5. No help with car or bike rental 6. No spa/massage service in resort

Amazing views . Private spa on our balcony was fabulous . Meant we didn't have to trek down to the pool if we didn't want to . Lovely clean room comfy bed

Even with the inclination be prepared for the stairs .... but it's worth it for the views

Tremendous views over the town and the infinity pool was great.

The hotel is built on a steep hillside and the only way up and down is via a funicular rail lift which is very slow. If a coachloads of people arrive it can take 25 mins to get up to your room.

Bed was very stiff pilows were like a stone hard when rains no way you can get to room

Great views,and although hillside lifts and buggy’s provided so no issue at all with steps, breakfast was great
